I’m backing John Campion for Police & Crime Commissioner in the election to be held on Thursday 5th May.
He is committed to keeping our community safe against threats and responding in an emergency. He will also invest in crime prevention ensuring we tackle the causes of crime.
He will support the reform of the back office functions enabling more money to be diverted to protect front line policing. He has committed to being open and transparent in how decisions are made and how tax payers’ money is spent.
He pledges to work hard to ensure people feel safer in their local communities. I agree with him that, for too long, anti-social behaviour has blighted our town centres and urban streets as well as rural villages blighted by speeding.

The Police & Crime Commissioner elections takes place and we, in Shropshire, have the opportunity to elect the West Mercia Commissioner. To do this, you must be registered to vote. If you will be aged 18 or over on the day of the election – Thursday 5 May 2016 – you are entitled to vote. If you have not already registered, the deadline to register to vote in these elections is Monday 18 April 2016.
My next advice surgery is at Much Wenlock Museum on Saturday 12th March. It runs from 10:30am until 12:00, and I hope to be joined by a Much Wenlock Town Councillor and a representative of the police. As ever, if any local resident has a problem that they think I can help with, they can contact me at any time by telephone or email.
EDIT 13th March 2016: Here’s a photo taken at this surgery
My next advice surgery is at Shipton Village Hall on Saturday 13th December. It starts at 10:30am for 1½ hours and I hope to be joined by a parish councillor and a representative of the police. I may schedule a further surgery in Much Wenlock at the end of January. Please look out for posters around the town although, as ever, if anyone has a problem that they think I can help with, they can contact me at any time by telephone or email.
My first advice surgery of 2014 will be at Much Wenlock museum on Saturday 25th January from 10:30am until midday. I hope to be accompanied by a Town Councillor and a Police representative. Experience at the four surgeries I’ve held so far shows that we can address many local concerns more effectively in this way rather than if I held them alone. Of course, you can contact me at any time if there’s an issue you wish to discuss.
It is six months since you elected me to represent you. In that time I have been able resolve a number of problems that have been brought to me by many local residents. Inevitably there have been one or two that have defeated me, although I’ve tried hard to deal with them. Whether or not you voted for me, I will do my best for you.
With all good wishes for Christmas and the New Year.
