Litter

You may be aware that I led a small team around Much Wenlock on 5th March to “Clean For The Queen”. We were expecting to collect quite a lot of rubbish, but were surprised at the volume that was lying in hedgerows, on grass verges and on the church green. Whilst most of the litter comprised cans, bottles and packets we also found various car parts, a dog bowl and a fresh egg! Someone has a wayward hen…

Those streets that we cleaned now look much better for the benefit of us as residents, and also to encourage and impress visitors whose presence we all welcome.

A number of folk have expressed an interest in becoming involved in regular litter picks around the town’s streets and further afield in the other communities in my electoral division. I’m very grateful to Much Wenlock resident Julian Walker, who has offered to organise litter picks around the town, and he can be contacted by email at walkerhousehold@hotmail.com. Julian’s ‘phone number is 01952 728082. I’m going try to source bags and grabs etc. If folk in the other communities around Much Wenlock would like to get involved, I’ll do my best to help out.
